Managing Your Gives: Edit, Archive, and Restore

How to keep your Gives accurate and current — when to edit, when to archive, and how to restore a give if circumstances change.

Why Give Management Matters

A Give is a live endorsement. When a chapter member clicks your Give and requests an introduction, they are trusting that your information is accurate and your confidence in that person is current.

An outdated Give — one where the contact has changed roles, left the industry, or where your relationship has soured — can lead to an introduction that goes badly. That reflects on you, not just the platform. Proactive Give management protects your reputation and keeps the chapter's give ecosystem healthy.

Editing a Give

You can edit any active Give you have posted. Editing is appropriate when:

  • The contact has changed their designation or organisation
  • You want to update the description to reflect more recent work or new specialisations
  • You need to correct a typo or inaccuracy
  • The contact's location has changed

To edit a Give: 1. Navigate to Gives → My Gives tab, or go directly to the Give detail page 2. Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) — visible on the Give detail page and in the My Gives list 3. Update the relevant fields in the edit modal 4. Click "Save Changes"

Changes take effect immediately and are visible to all chapter members.

Archiving a Give

Archiving a Give marks it as inactive and removes it from the chapter's active Gives feed. Archived Gives are not visible to other members when browsing, but the introduction history associated with that Give is preserved.

Archive a Give when: - Your contact has retired, changed careers, or is no longer available for introductions - Your professional relationship with that person has changed significantly - You are no longer confident in recommending them - The contact has asked you not to facilitate further introductions on their behalf - The Give is more than a year old and you have not had recent contact with the person

Effect on Give Score: Archiving a Give deducts credits from your Give Score (a GIVE_DEACTIVATED event). This is by design — a Give should only be active if you are genuinely willing and able to make the introduction.

To archive a Give: 1. Open the Give detail page or find it in My Gives 2. Click the "Archive" button 3. Confirm the action in the confirmation modal

The Give will immediately disappear from the chapter feed and be marked as Archived.

Restoring an Archived Give

If circumstances change — your contact re-enters the industry, you reconnect with them, or you previously archived a Give by mistake — you can restore it.

Restoring a Give reactivates it and returns it to the chapter's active feed.

Effect on Give Score: Restoring a Give awards credits back to your Give Score (the same credits as posting a new Give). The restored Give appears as active in the chapter feed immediately.

To restore a Give: 1. Go to Gives → My Gives tab 2. Archived Gives appear with an "Archived" badge 3. Click the green "Unarchive" button next to the Give 4. The Give is immediately restored

You can also restore from the Give detail page — the "Unarchive" button appears in place of the "Archive" button when viewing an archived Give.

Reviewing Your Gives Regularly

A good practice is to review your Gives once a month. Ask yourself:

  • Is this person still in the role described?
  • Has their work quality remained at the level I endorsed?
  • Am I still in active enough contact with them to facilitate a smooth introduction?
  • Is the description still accurate and specific?

Gives that pass this review should stay active. Gives that fail on any point should be edited or archived.

Chapter members who maintain accurate, current Gives are the ones other members trust most. That trust compounds over time into more introductions approved, more Gives posted on your behalf, and a stronger Give Score.
