How to Browse Gives and Request a Warm Introduction

Find the right connections in your chapter, understand what happens when you request an introduction, and learn how Karma Coins factor in.

The Gives Feed

The Gives page is the heart of Golden Connects. It shows all active Gives posted by members in your chapter — each one representing a warm introduction that is available to you right now.

Navigate to Gives from the left sidebar. The default view shows all active Gives in your chapter, newest first.

Browsing and Filtering

The Gives feed can be browsed and filtered in several ways:

Industry filter — Use the industry dropdown at the top of the page to narrow Gives to a specific sector. If you are looking for an IT vendor, filter by Technology. If you need a legal professional, filter by Legal & Compliance.

Search — The search bar filters Gives by contact name, organisation, designation, or description. Use it when you are looking for someone specific or a particular skill set.

My Gives tab — Switch to the "My Gives" tab to see only the Gives you have posted. This is where you manage your existing Gives — edit, archive, or restore them.

Each Give card shows the contact's name, designation, organisation, industry tag, location, relationship tag, and the name of the member who posted it. Click any card to open the full Give detail page.

Reading a Give Detail Page

The Give detail page shows everything about a give in one view:

  • Full contact details — name, designation, organisation, location, industry
  • The relationship tag — how the giver knows this person
  • The full description written by the giver
  • The giver's profile — their name, business, designation, and Give Score
  • Introduction history — how many people have requested and received introductions through this Give
  • View count — how many members have viewed this Give

Read the description carefully before requesting an introduction. The description is the giver's personal endorsement — it tells you what this person is exceptional at and what kind of businesses they are best suited to work with. Request an introduction only if there is a genuine fit.

Requesting an Introduction

When you find a Give that is relevant to you, click the "Request Introduction" button on the Give detail page.

A request form will open asking you to write a brief note explaining why you want this introduction. This note goes to the giver — the member who posted the Give — and helps them assess whether the introduction is appropriate.

Write a specific note. Explain who you are (if the giver does not know you), what your business does, and why you believe this introduction would be mutually valuable. A specific note dramatically increases the likelihood of approval.

Example of a weak note: "Please connect me."

Example of a strong note: "Hi Rajan, I run a 40-person accounting firm in Pune. We have been struggling with our IT infrastructure for the past year — recurring issues with server reliability and data backup. Based on your description, Suresh sounds like exactly what we need. Would love an introduction."

What Happens After You Request

Once you submit a request, the Give owner receives a notification and can review your request in their Introductions section.

They will see your name, your business, and the note you wrote. They then decide to approve or decline.

If approved: You will receive a notification and can see the approval in your Introductions section. The giver will make the introduction — typically via email or WhatsApp — connecting you directly with the contact.

If declined: You will receive a notification. The giver may or may not provide a reason. Respect the decision — givers protect their reputation by being selective about who they introduce.

You can track the status of all your outgoing requests in the Introductions section under the "Sent" view.

Karma Coins and Introduction Requests

Every time you request an introduction, a small Karma Coin debit is recorded. Karma Coins reflect the balance between how much you give and how much you seek.

The system is designed this way intentionally: members who give freely will always have a positive karma balance, while members who only seek introductions without posting their own Gives will see their karma balance decline.

A negative karma balance does not block you from requesting introductions, but it is visible on your profile and signals to the chapter that you are not contributing to the giving ecosystem. The give-first philosophy works only when everyone participates on both sides.

To maintain a healthy karma balance: post Gives, approve introduction requests you receive, and seek introductions in proportion to the value you are contributing.
